Frog learning platform comes to Bennies I have to prepare for our first Frog INSET day for 80+ teachers – 17/4/12. I had an afternoon with our excellent Frog Champions to discuss the detail of the day. Frog: hiding your personal feed from prying eyes

One of the great things about the Frog VLE is how it delivers personalised information to it’s users. A personal feed can be set up on the front page which lists all your activities and contributions and messages. However, for a teacher in particular - displaying their Frog feed on the IWB in a classroom – there may well be some banter or some messages to pupils that you do not wish to be publicly displayed. We hadn’t thought of this – we had addressed the issue of it displaying a teacher’s forename – but I saw James Shackley (@journeywithfrog) tweeted he had fixed it using a collapsible container frog brick. Frog iOS App –> for the Win

A company called PixelBit builds apps for schools using Frog. They sent out a half price offer for their smartphone app solution which includes android as well as iOS, and mobile web friendly access to make sure any device can use the handheld functionality that might well prove a game changer for Frog because it’s strengths are in communications – pushing the right data to the right person at their convenience. They are developing refinements to the app all the time, and unlike a lot of other development companies, they use the app for their day jobs. Nothing a kiss from a princess can’t fix

Frog calls it’s conference the ‘National Learning Platform Conference’. That is daft. There are many other learning platforms. Are there not rules against misrepresenting the facts in marketing material? If any Froggers are reading this, please do not despair at my critical tone. I am aiming to make Frog win at my school. To do this I will be it’s worst critic so I know where the pitfalls are. I’m not apologising. My tweets on the day were deliberately challenging Frog to show their teaching and learning credentials.
